Train Driver 

Position Overview

Train Driver is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient movement of trains on the Etihad Rail network. The Train driver is in charge of, and responsible for, driving the passenger train, as well as the mechanical operation of the train, train speed and all train handling. They are responsible for providing excellent customer service and assisting passengers with their needs throughout the journey.

Roles and Responsibility

• Deliver high levels of service performance in the promotion of safe working conditions and practices so as to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and Contractors operating on Etihad Rail Infrastructure.
• Provide a safe, reliable, word class, customer focused train service
• Deliver high levels of service performance in the promotion of safe working conditions and practices so as to ensure a safe working environment for all passengers, employees and Contractors operating on Etihad Rail network.
• Ensure the safe, reliable and punctual movements of trains, in both normal and degraded circumstances are performed to requirements of the Etihad Rail Safety Management System.
• Identify and record all irregularities including equipment faults and failures and implement actions to address.
• Provide real-time information updates to the Senior Train Driver Team Leader and Manager on performance and safety related matters.
• When dealing with customers, ensure that matters are handled tactfully and sensitivity as appropriate and strictly follow the guidelines, work instruction, procedure of the organization.
• Response to degraded and emergency situation that affect train operation and ensure passengers’ safety and security.
• Maintain current train driver competence
• Carry out shunting and train preparation duties as required to deliver the maintenance and service plan.
• This role will be part of a flexible shift pattern as directed by the business

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience

Academic Qualifications:

• Must have Train Driver’s license and a proven track record of successful train driving.
• Bachelor’s degree or High School certificate

Professional Qualifications:

• Knowledge of OHS standard
• Knowledge of European Train Control System (ETCS)
• Knowledge of competence management systems

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in driving passenger train ( Metro/Train) or Freight Train / Intermodal Train with 0 safety incidents
• Experience in customer service and passenger assistance
• knowledge of European Train Control System (ETCS).
• Good planning skills
• Basic mechanical knowledge

Other Skills:

• English as first language or advanced level of written and verbal skill,
• Good Medical Fitness,
• Able to successfully complete Psychometric Evaluation,
• Full UAE driving license or ability to achieve competence,
• Good planning skills,
• Analytical skills for problem solving,
• Ability to writing comprehensive reports,
• Knowledge of applicable discipline-based railway standards,
• Knowledge of European Train Control System (ETCS),
• Knowledge of ECP braking system,
• IT literate,
• Diesel electric traction knowledge,
• Current competency in freight / passenger train driving,
• Knowledge of competence management systems.
