Job Description
- To support the Principal to develop Teaching and Learning in Primary based on the Teach Like a GEM Playbook.
- The Lead Practitioner will also form part of a wider team of Lead Practitioners supporting the development of Teaching and Learning across the school to ensure excellent standards are obtained by all.
- To maintain expert knowledge of Teaching and Learning and disseminate this to other teachers
- To support in the implementation an training of the Teach Like a GEM Playbook
- To maintain knowledge and understanding of the school aims, priorities, targets and action plans
- To understand and promote the benefits and effective use of technology within Teaching and Learning
- To understand and promote links between the subjects and the wider curriculum
- To model/team-teach and disseminate examples of effective planning practice within the school using the Teach Like a GEM Playbook as the base
- To take steps to ensure that teachers are aware of the needs of inclusion of all students and groups and make provision for this in their planning through meaningful adaptations
- To take steps to ensure that feedback from lesson observation, work scrutiny and analysis of assessment data is appropriately reflected in teachers’ planning and supports effective delivery
- To establish strategic planning, including short, medium and long term plans for development and resourcing of the teaching and learning where needed in primary/secondary
- To take steps to ensure teachers are clear about the teaching of objectives in lessons, understanding the progression of Teaching and Learning in their subject area and communicate this to students
- To observe colleagues teaching and provide evaluative feedback on the effectiveness of their teaching strategies to bring about further improvement
- To identify and promote innovative and effective strategies within the school to meet the needs of all students
- To evaluate and interpret relevant national, local and school data, research and inspection evidence to inform policies, expectations and teaching methods
- To monitor and evaluate assessment data across the school to identify trends in student performance and issues for development
- To define intervention strategies to address issues for development that are identified
- To evaluate and report on the effectiveness of intervention strategies used to address identified issues
- To use assessment data to make comparative evaluation of students’ performance in the subject area
- To support teachers to be able to Teach Like a GEM
Skills
- Bachelor degree in Education
- Enrolled on leadership development
- Proven skills in change leadership and innovation
- Teaching grades at Outstanding
- Commitment to promote and support the vision, values and ethos of the school
- Evidence of significant and continued professional development
- Evidence of innovation leading to raised standards and improved student and staff motivation.
- Knowledge and understanding of competency-led curriculum frameworks
- Knowledge and understanding of what constitutes high quality educational provision and how to secure it within the school
- Evidence of successful delivery against targets
- Possess drive, enthusiasm, determination and boundless energy to improve the life chances and experiences of students
- Generate high expectations, enthusiasm and commitment from staff
- Maintain a sense of humour and proportion whilst working under pressure
- Display a genuine love of learning and care for students.
