Literacy Specialist and ASDAN experienced Teacher Jobs in Dubai, UAE
Key Responsibilities:
Collaboration:
Work closely with the Head of Inclusion and the Support for Learning department
Assessment and Diagnosis:
Conduct thorough assessments to identify students’ specific needs.
Be familiar with GL testing and WIAT/YARC and other diagnostic tools.
Collaborate with other professionals to determine appropriate intervention strategies.
Individualised Instruction:
Develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique learning profile.
Be familiar with a multi-sensory approach to teaching such as Orton-Gillingham
Deliver engaging literacy lessons to improve students’ reading, writing, and communication skills.
Teach and facilitate ASDAN courses, supporting students in developing life and employability skills.
Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students can thrive.
Differentiate lessons to meet diverse learning needs and ensure progress for all students.
Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback to support their development.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and support staff to enhance student outcomes.
Resource Development:
Create and adapt instructional materials and resources that are tailored to the needs of the students
Maintain an up-to-date library of literacy-specific teaching resources.
Create lessons adapted to expectations of the ASDAN curriculum
Progress Monitoring:
Regularly assess and track student progress.
Adjust teaching strategies and interventions as needed to ensure student success.
Parent and Teacher Collaboration:
Collaborate with parents, classroom teachers, and support staff to create a supportive learning environment.
Guide parents through the external assessment process and advise on appropriate additional interventions such as vision therapy, OT and counselling as required.
Provide guidance and training to educators on dyslexia awareness and teaching strategies.
Professional Development:
Stay current with research and best practices in inclusive education
Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance expertise.
Advocacy and Awareness:
Advocate for students and support the SfL team to raise awareness across the school community.
Attend and contribute to dyslexia/ASDAN related meetings and conferences.
Skills
- Bachelor’s in Education with a Master’s degree in Special/Inclusive Education
- Certification in dyslexia and/or CCET/AAT/CPT3A
- Previous experience working with students with dyslexia.
- Previous experience delivering the ASDAN programme. Strong understanding of dyslexia, its characteristics, and evidence-based intervention strategies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students overcome learning challenges.
